My learning partner for this assignment was Wai.

He and I discussed 2 trends in regards to adult learning.

The first trend was micro learning.

Micro learning can last any where from 15 seconds to 15 minutes. It is short, focus based, and allows the learner to absorb smaller amounts of information. People are so engaged in their phones that they don't realize that they are microlearning all the time. From a DIY video to a news article, these are all ways of micro learning. Typical learning experiences tend to be long and overdrawn, with too much information. Short burts of information allow the leaner to reflect on what they are learning, and connect it to what they already know.

The second trend was Game based learning.

Game based learning is highly engaging. It allows the participants a way to learn without realizing that they are learning. It can involve cooperation of the individuals, as well as competition (although that is not the objective). Games are social, and this allows people to learn in a safe, and social environment, as well as gaining feedback about how they are doing. Although they appear to be a less efficient way to learn, if done correctly, can be an excellent way to get your students involved, and invoke your learning objective.
