As I have mentioned before, my long term goal is to begin my Master of education degree in approximately 2 years time.

At my current job, we are constantly enrolled in Professional development courses, which I enjoy, and have completed many of the ones that are offered including: unconscious bias, indigenous awareness, understanding gender diversity and respect in the workplace. They are working on developing some new courses including ones on human rights, how to be an ally, and I will take those when they are complete.

I have signed up for a membership with Canadian Ceneter for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) as I get a free membership through my employer. Although I have not had a chance to pick out the exact courses I want to take yet, I will be adding some of those. I am also enrolled and working through "Indigenous Canada" through the university of Alberta.

As I found out earlier this month, I will soon be teaching the Gas level 1 class that I wanted, as well as the 4th year plumbing apprenticeship course. This means that I will have to do plenty of reading and note taking to fully grasp the curriculum that I have to teach. Although I have done these courses in the past, it is definitely not the same as having to teach it. I have saved a small reading that I would like to tackle this month sent out by our union titled "BCGEU guide to First Nations acknowledgement, protocol & terminology".

I have been working alongside some other women in trades to create some "Trades Culture" literature, as well as being a "Human" of BC in a new blog pertaining to women in trades, so I am getting a chance to utilize these blog writing skills!

I am also hoping to find some courses on dealing with students with learning disabilities, as I get a steady number of students with ADHD and autism through my classes, and would like to be able to understand their thinking a bit better, as well as be able to develop skills to enhance their learning experience.

I am also going to add a link to an infographic I made, as I believe that Peer Assessment is a great way for me to continuing growing in my professional practice.

This is my trades discovery class from today. They spent 4 days learning about piping. It seemed fitting to post this picture with my last blog post, on their last day.

L-R: Aydin, Gus, Owen, Matthew, Cove, Alex. I had their permission to use this for my blog.

I understand that you will not be able to get through to some students. Some have zero interest in the subject, some are there because...
